Depart your Arusha or Moshi hotel at 6:30 AM and drive to the beautiful Marangu Gate — Kilimanjaro National Park’s most accessible entrance at 1,860 metres. Complete park registration and meet your certified Kilimanjaro mountain guide before beginning your ascent into the extraordinary ancient montane rainforest of the lower slopes. The forest is immediately lush, cool, and deeply atmospheric — with black and white colobus monkeys regularly encountered leaping through the canopy and blue monkeys feeding in the forest understorey at close range. MIDDAY

A beautifully prepared packed lunch enjoyed at a scenic forest clearing with breathtaking views of Kilimanjaro’s Kibo summit cone emerging dramatically above the forest canopy on clear mornings — one of the most extraordinary and most deeply moving natural views available on any Serengeti Scent Adventures day trip.

AFTERNOON

Begin the relaxed descent back through the beautiful forest — taking time to appreciate the extraordinary botanical diversity of the lower slopes, search for additional wildlife, and enjoy the deeply peaceful and deeply atmospheric beauty of the ancient forest at its most golden and most beautiful in the afternoon light. Return to the Marangu Gate and drive back to your Arusha or Moshi hotel arriving approximately 5:00 to 6:00 PM — concluding an extraordinary day on Africa’s greatest mountain.
